In the context of European integration, environmental requirements are increasing, which are imposed on industrial enterprises in Ukraine. On January 1, 2021, the Law of Ukraine "On the principles of monitoring, reporting and verification of greenhouse gas emissions" came into force.
According to the press service of Dneprospetsstal, this parameter was always under strict control at the plant. It was calculated on the basis of direct measurements. In accordance with the new Law, the material flow is taken as a basis - scrap metal, charge, natural gas, blast furnace gas, etc. If a large volume of, for example, charge is purchased, then the volume of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere cannot be less than a certain amount. The calculation method and the monitoring system are new. At the initial stage, it is important to determine the key points, the list of materials that are taken into account, the data collection mechanism.
This was discussed during a meeting of the heads of Dneprospetsstal divisions with Vladislav Antipov, General Director of the Center for Ecology and Development of New Technologies.
He also spoke about the development of a monitoring system, the need to select a single source of production data, drew attention to how important the consolidation of the Enterprise's services in the formation of reporting documentation, answered questions about the possibility of using an automated production management system SAP.
“Dneprospetsstal was one of the first to get involved in a large-scale work on monitoring and verification of greenhouse gas emissions. The Enterprise has always taken a responsible approach to environmental issues, reporting documentation was formed correctly and in a timely manner. The new method is somewhat unusual, but it has been tested in European countries, has proven its effectiveness, which means that we will succeed, ”said Anatoly Pannik, head of the plant's environmental protection department.
