Verkhnyaya Pyshma (Sverdlovsk region)
In the pool of the UMMC Palace of Sports, the eighth synchronized swimming tournament "Sport as Art" was held for the prizes of Olympic champion Angelica Timanina, who arrived in Verkhnyaya Pyshma to greet the participants.
A total of 18 teams took part in the competition. Yekaterinburg was represented by teams from the Olympic Reserve School No. 1, Children's and Youth Sports School No. 19, the Flamingo Synchronized Swimming School, the Ural Sports Complex, the Malakhit Swimming Center and, for the first time, the Swim Ad Wi club. The team of synchronized swimmers from the UMMC Sports Palace competed for Verkhnyaya Pyshma. The theme of the tournament - "Holidays of the Nations of the World" - UMMC athletes revealed in the program "Grapefruit Harvesting Festival in Cuba."
President of the Sverdlovsk Regional Synchronized Swimming Federation Elena Kozitsyna explained that the tournament is held within the Trophy professioal direction, which allows the participants use costumes and additional attributes in their rooms.
“It is always a surprise for spectators, coaches and judges. Athletes prepare the program and costumes on their own without the help of trainers. Parents actively help them in this. It turns out to be a real bright holiday, the synchronized swimmers never cease to amaze us with the staginess of the performances, "noted Elena Kozitsyna.
The 11-time world champion, 2012 Olympic champion, Honored Master of Sports of Russia Angelica Timanina personally presented the sets of medals to the winners and prize-winners. The best performances were also noted in the nominations.
"The main thing is to believe in yourself. Many people think: " I live very far away, not in Moscow. I will never become an Olympic champion "Yes, you will! I was the same as you girls, I believed in my dream. You just need to go forward. It is possible to become a champion! " - Angelica Timanina admonished.
