TMK Awards Corporate Scholarships to Ural Federal University Students

Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) presented certificates awarding corporate scholarships to students at Ural Federal University (UrFU). Support went to 200 students at UrFU’s Institute of New Materials and Technologies (INMT), who scored highly on admission and are doing well in their studies.

The scholarship, worth 15,000 rubles a month, is awarded for one academic year. In addition to the monthly payment, scholarship recipients can take part in corporate events and educational programs, as well as complete work placements and hybrid internships at TMK facilities. The internship program is delivered in a blended format, both in person and online, and gives students an opportunity to learn about the company’s main areas of activity, production processes and career prospects. The entire process is overseen by TMK2U Corporate University.

A panel discussion was also held as part of the certificate presentation ceremony, with representatives of TMK’s Pervouralsk New Pipe Plant (PNTZ), Seversky Pipe Plant (STZ), Sinarsky Pipe Plant (SinTZ) and Chelyabinsk Pipe-Rolling Plant (ChTPZ) sharing their experience of working for the company.

"Through the corporate scholarship, we are increasing school and college graduates’ interest in metallurgical specialties and helping train qualified engineers for the industry as a whole. In the two years since the program was launched, we have seen positive momentum: the number of applicants to the institute has increased several times over, and their average entrance score has also risen. These results show that the scholarship helps attract motivated students and strengthen young people’s interest in in-demand technical professions," said Elena Pozolotina, TMK Deputy CEO for Human Resources and Director of TMK2U Corporate University.

"TMK’s corporate scholarship is an example of effective cooperation between an industrial partner and a university. The company supports high-achieving students and helps them build a clear career path. It is important that first-year students who earned high scores on the Unified State Exam (USE) also receive the scholarship. For applicants, this is a signal that engineering and metallurgy are valued from the very first day of study. For upper-year students, the scholarship recognizes their academic achievements and motivates them to continue developing," UrFU Rector Ilya Obabkov said.

Cooperation between TMK and UrFU is systematic. University students complete work placements at the company’s facilities and take part in innovation and professional skills competitions. TMK2U Corporate University regularly supports career fairs, hackathons and the Time for a Career project, recruits candidates for the master’s program in Metallurgical Enterprise Management, and partners with the I Am a Professional student competition.
