Key indicator of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)

To conduct an effective analysis of the operation of production equipment in the mes system, the standard OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) indicator is used. Allows you to perform an unbiased assessment of the work of a specific production line or a single machine. The calculation formula consists of three main components:

  • Availability – the percentage of uptime during the scheduled business hours is taken into account. Time for maintenance and preventive measures is not taken into account.
  • Performance – the program evaluates losses within the set production time, takes into account all external factors that do not allow the equipment to operate at maximum speed. 
  • Quality indicator – the parameter takes into account losses in terms of quality indicators, which include the production of products that do not meet standards, which causes additional costs to complete improvements or eliminate defects.

The integrated MES management system implemented in production allows for an accurate analysis of how efficiently the equipment is operating, exactly where and for what reason production losses occur, and what efficiency potential a particular equipment, production line, and machine has.
