Difficulties in repairing screw compressors

Unlike piston analogues, screw air compressors have a longer service life. They overheat less during prolonged operation in an industrial environment. Timely and professional repair of industrial compressors will restore their working characteristics. Significant savings on the purchase of new equipment, or replacement of only the main, working part.

 Main causes of breakdowns

Strict adherence to the rules of daily operation, at a minimum, guarantees that the compressor will receive natural wear and tear and will last guaranteed number of hours by the manufacturer. Periodic cases of overheating, use of unsuitable lubricant, untimely replacement of filter elements. To other, less obvious, but possible, we can add the following causes of equipment breakdowns:

  1. Ingress of foreign objects into the screw chamber of the compressor.
  2. Physical damage to valve mechanisms and its individual parts
  3. Natural or premature wear of guide bearings.
  4. Exceeding the recommended operating speed of the screw part of the compressor.
  5. Use of low-quality, unsuitable consumables.

     In addition, an insufficient level of lubricant should be added to premature breakdowns. Engine oil consumption is a natural norm when operating a screw compressor. Untimely replenishment of the container leads to oil starvation and the appearance of wear in the working parts. The need for urgent repair of equipment to restore its characteristics.

     Features of professional repair

     Before starting work, specialists conduct diagnostics of the compressor in order to identify all shortcomings, record them and subsequently eliminate them. Only in this way can restoration costs be minimized and at the same time fully restore the factory characteristics of equipment important for production. Other equally important features should be added:

    1. using only tools suitable for diagnostics and repair;
    2. following safety precautions so as not to damage new parts;
    3. minimum allowable clearances between components during assembly;
    4. tightening all bolts using a torque wrench;
    5. pre-start to eliminate any future problems.

    A properly restored compressor not only does not differ in its parameters from new, factory-made equipment, but is also able to work for the required number of hours until the next major overhaul.
