All about retraining to become a labor protection specialist - vocational training

With the introduction of new technologies, occupational safety systems are actively developing. It follows that in order for the process to comply with regulatory documents, it must be regularly monitored. As for personnel, according to Order No. 559n, all applicants for the position of labor protection specialist must undergo retraining in labor protection and receive a diploma on completion of the course. What are the functions of an occupational safety specialist?

An occupational safety specialist resolves issues related to ensuring the safety and health of employees in the production process. To do this, he:

  • analyzes the causes and develops measures to prevent accidents and occupational diseases;
  • conducts certification of workplaces and monitors compliance with labor protection requirements;
  • li>provides information about working conditions, conducts training and instruction for workers;
  • carries out medical monitoring of the health status of employees.

The occupational safety specialist develops new projects in accordance with standards occupational safety and health, compiles reports. For violation of safety rules, sanitary standards, air pollution, arbitrariness and wastefulness, an occupational safety specialist may be held accountable.

If the number of employees of an enterprise is more than 50 people, an occupational safety specialist is selected from the number of employees of a company who combines duties with their main job or hire a person. He reports to the director, head of department or chief engineer. An occupational safety specialist is appointed by order of the head of the enterprise, must have a higher or secondary specialized non-core education, undergo 256 hours of retraining in occupational safety and pass an exam.

If there are less than 50 people, an employee responsible for occupational safety is appointed or performs the duties the leader himself. To do this, it is also necessary to undergo retraining courses in labor protection within 2-3 months.

How and where to train as a labor protection specialist?

A university graduate with a specialty in “Technosphere Safety” can apply for a vacancy as an OT specialist immediately after graduation. Employees with higher or secondary specialized education and with at least 3 years of work experience in the field of labor protection can work as occupational safety specialists. But they should undergo retraining in labor safety, this process takes place quickly and inexpensively in specialized training centers.

The professional retraining program “Occupational Safety and Health Specialist” contains basic knowledge of jurisprudence and labor legislation. The student will master:

  • laws, instructions, rules and regulations on health, safety, hygiene;
  • labor organization and management rules;
  • design and operation PPE;
  • internal regulations.

Upon completion of training, the student is included in the additional education system, he receives a diploma of the established form.
