Steel production in Russia in April 2019. decreased compared to April 2018. by 8.3 percent and amounted to 5.6 million tons. Over four months, 22.41 million tons of primary steel were smelted in the Russian Federation, which is 6.1 percent less than in the same period last year (APPG).
Steel production in Ukraine, according to Worldsteel, in April amounted to 1.94 million tons, which is 12.6 percent higher than last year. In January-April, Ukraine produced 7.44 million tons of steel, which is 6.6 percent more than in the APPD.
In Kazakhstan, steel production in April 2019 amounted to 350 thousand tons (3.6 percent less), in Belarus - 215 thousand tons (-0.9 percent), in Moldova - 40 thousand tons (by 24 , 5 percent less) and in Uzbekistan 60 thousand tons, which is 3.4 percent more than in April 2018.
Global steel production for all 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 156.7 million tonnes in April 2019, up 6.4 percent from April 2018.
In the four months since the beginning of 2019, global steel production amounted to 599.86 million tons, which is 4.8 percent more than in the APPD.
