Glencore, one of the world's largest commodity companies, reduced copper output by 15% in the first half of the year to 510.2 thousand tons, the group said.
The forecast for copper production for this year has been reduced from 1.11 to 1.06 million tons (against 1.2 million tons in 2021). The reduction in copper production is due to problems at the Katanga deposit, the sale of the Ernest Henry mine in Australia and the modification of the mining plan at the Collahuas mine in Chile.
The production of zinc by the group in January-June decreased by 17% - to 480.7 thousand tons. Nickel production, on the contrary, increased by 21% - up to 57.8 thousand tons, ferrochromium - by 2%, up to 786 thousand tons.
The volume of coal production increased by 14%, amounting to 55.4 million tons.
Gold and silver production declined by 21% to 334 koz and 12.6 million oz respectively.
