Philippines wants to capitalize on the nickel hunger

The Indonesian government's ban on nickel exports shook the global nickel market, and also inspired the Philippines, the world's second largest nickel producer after Indonesia, which is now preparing to seize a unique opportunity to develop new domestic markets, build mines and expand production and prices.

Philippine nickel mines are expected to increase production when the new mining season begins in April. At the same time, there are doubts about the rapid growth.

The Philippine Nickel Industry Association (PNIA) said that due to the Philippines' tight domestic mining policy and many uncertainties, the market is still wondering if the Philippine nickel industry can do as expected.

Let's remind that since Monday in the south of the Philippines, nickel mining has been suspended for an indefinite period. The government of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has suspended four mining companies under its jurisdiction, Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Energy Abdulraof Abdul Makaqua said.
