Imports of hot-rolled steel in the US fell by 37.7% in February

February 2022 U.S. hot-rolled steel imports were 48,358 tons, down 37.7% from January but up 26.9% from February 2021, according to final statistics from the U.S. Department of Commerce .

In value terms, imports of hot-rolled steel in February 2022 amounted to $61.2 million compared to $97.5 million in January and $33.7 million in February 2021.

The United States imported the most hot-rolled steel from Canada in February - 21,152 tons, compared to 27,805 tons in January and 23,768 tons in February 2021. Other main sources of imports of hot-rolled steel in February are Japan - 11,816 tons; Mexico - 9,198 tons; South Korea, 1996 tons; and Germany with 1320 tons.
