The installation of three more units of modern equipment for the manufacture of titanium castings is being completed at the Center for Technological Competence of Titanium Casting of the UEC-UMPO of the United Engine Corporation. Within three years, the center should reach its design capacity of 105 tons of titanium castings per year. Now the capacity of the center is up to 50 tons per year.
This year, the center has mastered a new casting range, including for the intermediate casing of the promising PD-8 engine. The power plant is being created in the wide cooperation of the UEC enterprises for the regional aircraft SSJ-New and Be-200. To ensure work in this area, as well as in connection with an increase in the volume of orders for other projects of the corporation, additional equipment is being installed at the Central Heating Complex. The installation of a second installation for X-ray inspection of castings is in progress, the line for drying coated molds is being expanded, at the end of September, a domestically produced welding glove box was put into operation to eliminate casting defects.
“As the equipment is purchased and launched, the center is regularly loaded with orders from UEC enterprises. We began work in 2012 with the manufacture of a cast intermediate casing for the PD-14 engine, then gradually expanded the range of manufactured products to all titanium castings of the main serial and promising engines of the corporation: PD-14, VK-2500, TV7-117, NK-32, SaM -146, PD-35, PD-8 and others, ”said UEC-UMPO Managing Director Evgeny Semivelichenko.
The creation of the center of technological competence began ten years ago, in 2011. Its organization on the basis of the UEC-UMPO was due not only to the favorable geographical position of Ufa in relation to other enterprises of the UEC, but also to the availability of suitable production facilities and the high competence of the metallurgists of the association. In addition, the company had experience in the successful operation of high-precision equipment for casting, mechanical and spectral analysis.
The center is equipped with high-tech equipment and uses unique technologies of intermetallic casting, heat treatment, chemical etching, and water-jet cutting. The processes of lining and drying of workpieces, removal of ceramics, cutting of the gating system have been robotic. To assess the quality of products, fluorescence and X-ray control are used.
Today, the development of titanium casting in the UEC-UMPO in the interests of all UEC enterprises is practically completed. Ahead is a large-scale work on the organization of an aluminum casting center. For this high-tech production, which in the future will produce up to 375 tons of aluminum casting per year, a separate building with an area of 15,000 square meters will be erected on the territory of UEC-UMPO. m, now preparations are underway for its construction.
