The Russian plant Ural Motorcycles, which is the only one in the world that produces heavy off-road motorcycles with a sidecar under the Ural brand, will transfer production to Petropavlovsk, Kazakhstan, to the site of the Kaztekhmash machine-building plant, said the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kairbek Uskenbayev.
p>"Plant "Ural" with "Kaztehmash" is negotiating, they signed a lease agreement for the area. We will welcome (Russian production - ed.), and we have a lot of such companies,” Uskenbayev told reporters on the sidelines of the Kazakh government.
The akimat of the North Kazakhstan region said that representatives of the plant came to Petropavlovsk, looked at the sites for locating their assembly production.
“They negotiated with the landlords. There were no meetings with government agencies. State support measures have not yet been used. The North Kazakhstan region is always ready to consider proposals from investors to open new production facilities. Including on the territory of the FEZ Qyzyljar,” the akimat added.
The decision was made due to the lack of components subject to sanctions and the ban on the import of equipment from Russia. At the same time, the company's plant in the city of Irbit, Sverdlovsk Region, will continue to operate and will manufacture frames and body elements for motorcycles. Part of the staff in Russia was reduced, the management staff will move to Kazakhstan.
Earlier, Ilya Khait, CEO of Ural Motorcycles, announced on the company's official YouTube channel that the company was moving its production to Kazakhstan.
