According to the results of 2022, the Russian car market expects a decrease in sales at the level of 28%, to just over 1 million units (the figure is given without taking into account sales of light commercial vehicles). This forecast was made by analysts of the company "Trust Technologies" (formerly PwC in Russia).
“The automotive market in Russia today is undergoing a restructuring in all areas — production, imports, services, financial services, but so far there has not been a mass exodus of players. So far, only deliveries have been stopped, market players are thinking, and a final decision has not been made, ”explains Victoria Sinichkina, director of the automotive practice at Trust Technologies.
The company's analysts point out that the key factors affecting the market recently were disruptions in the global supply chains of components as a result of the current geopolitical situation and the consequences of the pandemic, the lack of growth in the solvency of the population and high car prices.
Starting from 2023, the Russian car market, according to the company, will grow and by 2028, car sales in Russia in physical terms will grow to 1.78 million units at an average annual growth rate of 6%, mainly due to an increase in supplies from China , India and Pakistan.
