In the framework of the working visit to Paris Mariupol mayor Vadim Boychenko met with representatives of the Ministry of foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance of France, companies are "Beten", EGIS and the city hall of La Rochelle. The sides discussed the cooperation projects. Among them is the implementation of a large-scale project to provide drinking water to residents of the semi-million city of Mariupol.
"the First project that we are implementing in the framework of decentralized cooperation with French partners, intended to make available quality drinking water to every resident of Mariupol. It is a guarantee of the future and the Foundation of city life. Thus, we raise the basic needs of our citizens to the European level. This is a pilot project for Ukraine in the future we will be able to replicate the positive experience in other cities of the country," said Vadim Boychenko.
Together with the President of French company "Beten" by Jean Roche, the mayor discussed the details of the project and its stages. Also met with representatives of the company EGIS, which provides help in managing the water project. This topic was discussed and the meeting in the Ministry of Finance of France.
a representative for decentralised cooperation with the countries of Eastern Europe in the Ministry of foreign Affairs of France, Vadim Boychenko discussed the projects for further cooperation. In particular, the mayor has reviewed the terms of submission of an application for participation in the competition program of projects and their funding. Among the most promising projects of decentralized cooperation – development of IT sphere, creating a scientific technological Park, and landscaping of embankments.
"Mariupol today – an example of positive changes in Ukraine. The city is on the path of strategic development. All our projects are aimed at improving the level and quality of people's lives. To unlock the potential of cities and creation of new opportunities for its residents," - said the mayor.
Recall that in early 2019, a Framework agreement was signed between the Government of the French Republic and the Government of Ukraine about the official support of the project on drinking water supply of Mariupol.
the Agreement also provides for the development of the master plan for improvement of water supply system and drainage of Mariupol until 2040.
In the explanatory note to the draft law on ratification says that the project will include the construction and launch in Mariupol modern filtration stations, as well as upgrading the existing system of centralized water supply and drainage system to reduce drinking water consumption and discharge of sewage into the environment.
Additionally, during the first International investment forum RE: think. Invest in Ukraine signed a Declaration of intent between the Government of France, the European investment Bank and the Council for infrastructure development of supply and water purification in Mariupol. Total investment in the project exceeds € 90 million.
