Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories Oleksii Reznikov, the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko, extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France in Ukraine, Etienne de Poncin and Chairman of the Mariupol city Council Vadim Boychenko officially announced the beginning of construction of a plant for the production of drinking water in Mariupol.

Monday signed a financial agreement between the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine and the city of Mariupol, and, consequently, made the last of the administrative and financial formalities necessary for the start of the project.

the Project is fully financed by the public Treasury of France through concessional credit, amounting to 64 million euros, and its conditions are very favorable: credit is granted for a period of 30 years, interest rate is 0.08% per annum, and a grace period is 10 years. The project will allow the city of Mariupol to upgrade the system of providing housing and communal services of vital importance for the population, and providing residents a stable water supply and quality drinking water that meets international standards (EU standards and who).

the First phase of the project will begin in July-August 2020 and will be implemented engineering company BETEN INTERNATIONAL, which will prepare a feasibility study (deadline - 1 year), as well as develop a master plan for improving water supply and sanitation in the city through 2040. The design and construction of a plant for the production of drinking water will a year to run the plant in work in 2023-2024. For the implementation of this phase will be attracted by STEREAU company, a subsidiary of the SAUR group, specializing in the construction of treatment facilities.

Now France plans to increase its assistance in the water sector and to launch a new project in Lugansk oblast".

"This is a unique and ambitious project for the whole country, and in the first place - for the inhabitants of Mariupol. Together we will make life of citizens more comfortable, and soon residents of Mariupol will be able to drink clean water from the tap, as do residents of many European cities," - said the mayor of Mariupol Vadim Boychenko.
