SE "Eastern mining and processing plant" and state enterprise "NAEK "Energoatom" on November 22 signed a long term contract to supply uranium oxide concentrate for a period of 6 years. the Price of concentrate were not reported, but it is noted that the contracted cost of the uranium concentrate will ensure the stable operation of the plant.
"a long-term contract for the supply of uranium will provide stable, predictable funding for the production of GP "VostGOK" uranium oxide concentrate for the period 2020-2026 of the year", - stated in the message.
a long-term contract is an extremely important step for the region and Ukraine in General, because of the uranium mining industry is strategic and its development is an important goal, given the crucial role of nuclear generation in the energy mix of the country.
Also, among the positive aspects of a long-term contract between SE "VostGOK" and GP "NAEK "Energoatom" the following should be noted:
- ensure predictable development of the regions in which there is a uranium production (taxes and fees incl. in local budgets, the presence in the regions high-paying jobs, the financing of energy-gas-water transport infrastructures of the regions)
- provide a stable environmental situation in the region (funding for control and prevention of pollution of underground waters, atmospheric air and surface soil uranium)
- increase the level of investment attractiveness of domestic uranium production. The possibility of providing guarantees for the projects of development of uranium production (up to 6 years).
