Citizens of Ukraine will receive a discount for natural gas even if it will start direct supplies from Russia at a discount to "Naftogaz", said the Minister of energy and environmental protection Alexey Orzhel, reports Interfax.
According to him, natural gas will be offered to end consumers at market price, and the difference between it and the discounted price proposed by Gazprom, would be allocated for implementation of socially important measures, including subsidies for disadvantaged consumers.
"If we have reduced the price of potentially possible that we will have direct delivery with a discount from the East, we will try to get this discount, give the market the market price, and the discount to use through the budget or through any other instruments to cover the subsidies or other socially important events," said Oriel the presentation is scheduled for 2019-2020 changes in the field of energy and environment of the To do list in Kyiv on Monday.
At the same time, the Minister did not go into the details of such a plan, and possible mechanisms for its implementation.
As earlier reported, head of the NJSC "Naftogaz of Ukraine" expressed the view that the Russian "Gazprom" on January 1, 2020, may start direct supplies of gas to Ukrainian consumers in the case of the signing of the treaties of accession by European rules.
