"ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih" started to use the new laboratory complex of the company LECO (USA). Now technicians can quickly and accurately analyze the quality of the incoming to the enterprise of various grades of coal and adjust their proportions in the mixture for coke production. The optimal composition of coal charge allows to improve the quality of coke and reduce its cost.
the New complex is designed to study microcomponent composition of coal, its petrographic properties. It can be considered unique because similar equipment in Ukraine – units. The cost of the new complex is about 3 million.
includes Olympus research microscope, automatic image analyzer with a high-quality digital camera, updated software Lucia Vitrinite 7.13 and automatic press for hot pressing of samples. The software provides the ability to register the petrographic components of coal, to make calculation of mineral components, to determine the vitrinite reflectance (type of vegetable organic matter), generate a report of the tests.

- New petrographic complex is our main tool in predicting the quality of the charge and coke. With its help we determine the average reflectance of vitrinite, okislennosti, quantitative characterization of coal by the content of the main groups of macerals (micro-components), lithotypes and mineral inclusions. Also establish a correspondence stages reflectance of vitrinite certain grades of coal. This, in turn, provided timely performance monitoring in coal concentrates and coal blend ensures the production of coke of a given quality.
