industrial Ukrainian company INTERPIPE has announced the completion of INTERPIPE NIKO TUBE project for the establishment of a control system of warehouses of finished products using digital technologies.
warehouse management System WMS (Warehouse Management System) is designed to significantly reduce the time of shipment of finished products to the customer by any mode of transport. After its introduction at INTERPIPE NIKO TUBE has completely changed the approach to the shipment: now the preparation for it starts with the very first package that came with the line, and at the time of the transport order is ready for collection.
Project on introduction of WMS at INTERPIPE NIKO TUBE was launched in June of this year, total investments amounted to 178 thousand U.S. dollars. Now to find the right package of tubes takes a few minutes, the machine downtime was reduced three times – from 67 to 22 hours in the afternoon and most cars are already this process for one shift (6-8 hours).
This decision makes the European market – the most demanding in the complexity of equipment, speed and accuracy of deliveries. In addition, the part of the customers in Europe only works with call-off orders, that is, they set still the exact date and time of the delivery of specific products in your warehouse.
the System operates in the logic transport, political parties, positions of orders that will be shipped to the client by one machine. Each order item has its own set of criteria that contribute to the transport of the party and which is selected place in the warehouse. The largest number of criteria – for the European market. The system takes into account 7 factors: the identity of the consignee, delivery address, delivery conditions (Incoterms), the presence of armor from the client, type of packing, type of transport (container/no) and the prohibition of mixing on project orders. For comparison, for the Ukrainian market only the first three criteria.
Denis Morozov, Director for Economics and Finance INTERPIPE:
– Smart warehouses is an unprecedented phenomenon for our Company. Previously, all our interaction with warehouses was reduced to a common account then search each package before shipping and, often, inaccuracies in Assembly of transport of the parties.
Now we received a motion control system of each package, starting from the finish line and ending with any of 619 pockets all storage of finished products. We managed to develop a system that collects and analyzes data and makes decisions in real time, taking into account all deviations, and even human error. Such systems have a large trade and logistics companies, such as Amazon.
