"In 2019, container traffic grew by nearly 20%," said infrastructure Minister Vladislav Crickley.

According to operational data of the Ukrainian sea ports authority, for the entire 2019 at the ports was handled one million and three and a half thousand TEU containers. Transshipment of containerized cargo in Ukraine for the second consecutive year demonstrates the significant growth that is several times higher than average world market of container transportation.

Export and import containers last year were split almost evenly with a small advantage of import is 48.6% and 46.8%, respectively. Positive dynamics of export is provided by increased containerization of food production and light industry (processing of agricultural raw materials - flour, wheat, peas; textiles). The growth of import container cargoes is traditionally affected by the strengthening of the hryvnia makes it more attractive supply from abroad of foodstuffs, electronics, building materials and other goods.

Transit of container cargoes while significantly inferior to the volume of import and export and is only 46,4 thousand TEU. However, in 2019, he demonstrated impressive growth rates, an increase compared to the previous year by 42%.

          • Middle East (ME3) - weekly service Maersk Line connecting the Ukrainian ports and countries in the Middle East.
