Zaporozhkoks has completed the overhaul program for coke oven batteries No. 5-6, scheduled for 2019. Investments amounted to UAH 96 million. Battery modernization will increase coke production and reduce the likelihood of fugitive emissions into the environment.
Within the framework of the modernization program in 2019, 26 walls of coking chambers were repaired at coke oven batteries No. 5-6, reinforcement elements, armor and anchor columns on the furnaces were replaced. On the machine and coke side of the batteries, the extreme verticals were moved and new doors were installed on the coking chambers. Gas fittings were also repaired.
“The overhaul was carried out in the conditions of the existing production, which made it possible to keep the production of coke at the planned level. Now, thanks to the commissioning of all coking chambers at the sixth battery, the daily production of gross coke has increased to 1,822 tons, ”said Alexander Tretyakov, General Director of Zaporozhkoks.
Note that Zaporozhkoks operates three coke oven batteries. Blast furnace coke production in 2019 amounted to 827.5 thousand tons. The productivity of coke oven batteries No. 5-6 is 678 thousand tons per year.
