According to the Ukrainian industrial company "Interpipe" in the last week of March in Ukraine recorded a sharp increase in electricity prices for industrial consumers. The rate increased from 1.3 UAH. per kilowatt-hour to UAH 1.68 unprecedented. per kilowatt-hour, or 35% in relation to February.
At Interpipe claim that a price increase is contrary to all economic indicators – the cost of energy (oil, natural gas, coal) all over the world have fallen to record levels, also decreased the electricity tariffs in all countries of the world.
"In Ukraine was a record warm winter, industrial production declined and, consequently, decreased consumption of electricity. In such circumstances, a rate increase seems absurd. Today the price of electricity in Ukraine is twice higher than in Europe." the company notes.
"Interpipe" called the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Smagala and NKREKU to take the necessary regulatory measures to stabilize the electricity market and prevent rising prices one of the key players of NNEGC "Energoatom".
"Where the industry was not able to finish the coronavirus, it will finish the electricity tariff. On the background of the pandemic COVID-19 the governments of Europe and the United States are developing plans to support the industry, introduce additional instruments to stabilize the business. In Ukraine the situation is opposite. We, as a business, solving the problems of the delivery staff, ensuring their protection, purchase equipment for local hospitals. And all this against the background of falling of volume of orders. In response, we received 35% increase in electricity prices and, as a consequence, a significant deterioration in our competitiveness in a falling market. Interpipe has 11 thousand employees, about 50 thousand members of their families depends on the ability of the company to operate in the current environment", - said Denis Morozov, Director for Economics and Finance Interim.
