On September 11, 2020, the Acting Minister of Energy of Ukraine Olga Buslavets, during a press conference in Kiev, announced that the construction of a new unit No. 6 at Slavyanskaya TPP was included in the Energy Development Strategy of Ukraine.
According to O. Buslavets, the ways of project implementation are being discussed.
“The project is ready, but there are difficulties in attracting investments and funds. We recently talked about this with the Prime Minister. Together with the Ministry of Finance, we will look for possible ways to implement this project, ”she said.
She also said that the future block, designed to use low-grade coal, will be environmentally friendly, with a wide range of regulating capacities, which is so necessary for the country's Unified Energy System.
“This is very important for our mines,” added O. Buslavets.
Currently, Donbasenergo PJSC expects Ukraine to provide state guarantees for the implementation of a joint project with the Chinese Dongfang Electric International Corporation (DEIC) for the construction of a new unit of SlavTES.
The contract price with DEIC is $ 684.296 million. Financing of the reconstruction should be carried out by 70% at the expense of loans from a Chinese bank. The implementation of the project will extend the service life of SlavTES for 40 years, increase the efficiency of work, and reduce the specific fuel consumption and maintenance costs. The new unit will comply with all ENTSO-E technical requirements and European environmental directives.
For information: as of 01.09.2020 60.86% of shares of Donbasenergo PJSC belong to the Private Joint Stock Company "ENERGOINVEST HOLDING", 25% + 1 share - to the state represented by the State Fund property of Ukraine.
PJSC "Donbasenergo" unites two power plants: Slavyanskaya and Starobeshevskaya TPPs (the latter has been located on the territory not controlled by Ukraine since 2014). Since March 2017, the performance indicators of assets located in the temporarily occupied territory in the Donetsk region have not been included in the consolidated reporting of Donbasenergo due to the loss of control over them.
The total installed capacity of the Slavyanskaya TPP is 880 MW.
