Metinvest is recognized as one of the most sustainable companies in Ukraine

Metinvest Group won in the Economic Development nomination of the UN Global Compact's Partnership for Sustainable Development 2020 competition, the MRA Program (Master of Public Administration) with a project for a training system for municipalities called the MRA Program (Master of Public Administration).

This project is part of the group's corporate social responsibility. The goal of the program is to help different cities of Ukraine prepare a new generation of managers who will be able to effectively manage the budget, attract investments, implement projects for the development of local communities and improve the quality of life of citizens.

Metinvest's partners in this project include the Mariupol City Council, public funds for the development of Mariupol, Krivoy Rog and Zaporozhye, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Ukrainian Academy of Leadership.

In addition to Metinvest, the most stable companies in Ukraine are Nova Poshta with the Business School project, the Polyot Center for Scientific and Technical Creativity of Youth of the Zaporozhye City Council with the project of the Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic Children's and Youth Scientific University and for some reason the Turkish bank ŞEKERBANK with the project "Banking services for family farming".

The winners and all participants of the competition were congratulated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal: “Of course, it is impossible to solve global problems with the help of only state bodies. This requires joint efforts of stakeholders, government, business and the public. Our common goal is to ensure equal rights for all categories, and this requires us to be more effective and creative. The authorities are working on this and, for their part, are doing their best. ”

An unprecedented number of applications were submitted for the 2020 competition: in addition to Ukraine, companies from Belarus, Macedonia, Poland and Turkey took part in the competition. The jury evaluating the projects was also international.

This year, Metinvest Group conducted a comprehensive assessment of the effectiveness of its ESG activities with the assistance of Sustainalytics, a leading independent provider of research, ratings and data in this area.

Metinvest was highly praised for the quality of human capital management, labor and industrial safety, as well as interaction with local communities. In the ESG rating, Metinvest took 9th place among 140 world metallurgical companies.
