Smart Maritime Group (Kherson) will carry out the modernization of 6 fire-type vessels on the order of the Dutch company Handelskade Shipsales B.V. (Netherlands). Koster is a vessel with a navigation area limited in distance from the coast. Derived from the English coast, which means coast.
Under the terms of the contract, during the modernization, the length of each vessel will be increased by 12 m due to the installation of an insert and an inter-bilge partition. The shipyard specialists will also paint ballast tanks, outer skin and cargo holds, lay new piping systems and install new hatch covers. In addition, a self-ejecting dinghy will be installed in the stern of the vessel. About 190 tons of metal will be used to improve each vessel.
The modernization will significantly improve the technical and economic characteristics of the ships - they will become 2 holds (now 1 hold), the deadweight will increase by an average of 20%.
The first two vessels are expected to be delivered to SMG for repairs in the second decade of January. It is planned to complete the modernization of all vessels by July 2021.
The total cost of the contract will be about UAH 100 million.
In the meantime, the company has already started cutting and processing high-quality metal purchased for this order from the enterprises of the Metinvest holding.
