The reform of Ukrzaliznytsia and the creation of an independent regulator in the transport sector, which will establish economically feasible transportation tariffs, are very important for the development of industry. This was stated by the president of the association of enterprises "Ukrmetallurgprom" Alexander Kalenkov on the air of the TV channel "Ukraine 24".
According to the President of Ukrmetallurgprom, 40% of the cargo transported by the railroad is the products of the mining and metallurgical complex, and the enterprises of the industry are more than anyone interested in the effective work of Ukrzaliznytsia.
“Ukrzaliznytsia should be restructured, which will allow separating passenger and freight traffic. This will allow you to find the right use of money and not cross-subsidize. Annually 13-15 billion hryvnias are transferred from freight to passenger traffic. This is wrong, it creates problems with high-quality cargo service, "Kalenkov said.
He also emphasized: tariffs for the carriage of goods should be economically justified, and their formation should be transparent. In his opinion, the creation of an industry regulator will make it possible to put things in order in the tariff setting in the transport sector.
“An independent commission for regulation in transport should be created - this is what has been said for the last 5-7 years. Finally, this should come true, we all look forward to it in the next six months or a year. It is NKRT - an independent commission for transport regulation that should deal with economically feasible tariffs, ”Kalenkov said.
