Biden should use the meeting with Zelenskiy as an opportunity to begin rebuilding America's reputation as an ally that keeps its promises, according to editorial Financial Times.
“After America’s humiliation in Afghanistan, the US President’s meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Wednesday became a litmus test for Washington’s commitment to other US allies,” writes the Financial Times.
American journalists believe that President Biden should use his meeting to reaffirm his support for Ukraine in three ways. First, he must clarify the implications for Moscow if Russia uses Nord Stream 2 to undermine Ukraine. Second, the US must provide additional economic support. And thirdly, Washington must commit itself to providing additional military deterrent technology, which will increase the price for Russia in the event of further aggression in Ukraine.
