In the coming weeks, quotations of scrap metal on the domestic market of Ukraine will continue to fall against the backdrop of negative conditions on the long-rolled metal market. Ukrpromvneshekspertiza predicts that the average price per ton of ferrous scrap this week will not exceed UAH 8300.
Last week (August 27 - September 3), metallurgical enterprises purchased scrap metal at an average rate of 8600 hryvnia per ton.
As noted in the association "UAVtormet", the profitability of purchases of scrap metal is higher than the standard value, and the current purchase prices for scrap are comfortable for the operation of Ukrainian metallurgical plants.
The most expensive scrap metal was purchased in the southeast of Ukraine, and on average across the country, prices for grade 3 scrap in the regions were at the level of 6.95-7 thousand hryvnia per ton.
Provision of scrap metal to Ukrainian factories last week decreased from 65.9 to 57.7 thousand tons. Nevertheless, the level of meeting the needs of metallurgists for scrap last week amounted to 101.5%.
Scrap stocks in Ukrainian ports increased to 1.4 thousand tons. Last week it was 1,000 tons.
Like it was reported that Ukrainian enterprises increased their revenue from the export of scrap metal 40 times, gaining $ 34.41 million from foreign sales of ferrous scrap in August 2021, compared to $ 848.72 thousand in August 2020.
