Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) has become the winner of the annual National Award in the field of environmental technologies "ECOTECH-LEADER 2025". The project of Taganrog Metallurgical Plant (TAGMET), part of TMK, won in the nomination "Conservation of biodiversity" — a system of integrated management of water resources of the enterprise and conservation of biodiversity of the Azov-Black Sea basin.
The system that TAGMET submitted to the competition consists of several elements — complexes of water circulation systems, pumping stations "Northern", "Southern", "Beregovaya", local pumping stations for production units, as well as combined fish protection devices at the intake, thanks to which the movement of the water flow and shoals is corrected. The fish are redirected to a safe area for them.
Modernization of production facilities, effective management of water resources and continuous improvement of technological processes allowed TAGMET to create a circulating water supply system with a share of over 96%, which minimizes the need for water intake from external sources in accordance with the company's policy for the conservation of water resources in the region. In addition, TAGMET has released more than 170,000 fry of Red-listed Russian sturgeon into the mouth of the Don River in six years.
