Berlin is investing in rail infrastructure 86 billion euros

In the next ten years in Germany intend to invest in the development of railway infrastructure, 86 billion euros. The corresponding agreement on Tuesday 14 January in Berlin was signed by the Minister of transport of Germany Andreas SOER (Andreas Scheuer), Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (Olaf Scholz), the head of the state company Deutsche Bahn Richard Lutz (Richard Lutz) and responsible to the company for infrastructure development Ronald Pofalla (Ronald Pofalla).

From the total amount the Federal government will allocate 62 billion euros, while Deutsche Bahn from its own funds - 24 billion. Thus, the annual amount of investments into development of railway infrastructure, will amount to 8.6 billion euros.

"This will be the decade of the railroad. I expect the railroad will take advantage of these opportunities. Railways must become more precise, more efficient and better," said Andreas Choir.

the trade Union of railwaymen and workers of transport EVG believe this amount of investment in the development of the railroad is insufficient, because it does not allow even to stop the deterioration of the existing infrastructure.

In Germany Deutsche Bahn is often criticized for late trains and rail infrastructure is considered worn. The development of railway transport is one of the main tools in the programme of the German government for climate protection.
