In April 2020, industrial production in Germany fell in comparison with March was 17.9%, according to the Ministry of economy and labour of Germany. This is the maximum rate of decline since the beginning of the settlement in 1991.

According to revised data, in March the figure declined by 8.9% and not 9.2% as previously reported.

Analysts on average had expected a fall in industrial production in April by 16.8%, according to data from Trading Economics.

Production of consumer goods decreased by 8.7%, intermediate goods - by 13.8%, capital goods - by 35.3%. The sharp decline in production was recorded in the automotive industry - 74,6%.
