At PrJSC Rivneazot, a member of the Group DF nitrogen business, in the shop for the production of non-concentrated nitric acid, a major overhaul of unit No. 8 was carried out.
The capacity of the unit is 120 thousand tons per year. The modernization will improve the stability and reliability of the unit. As a result of the repair, a high-quality filtration of the air-ammonia mixture from mechanical impurities and oil was achieved, as well as an improved cooling process and an increase in the efficiency of the equipment.
The shop for the production of non-concentrated nitric acid of PJSC "Rivneazot" has eight units for the production of NAC. Now there are six units in operation. The design capacity of each unit is 120 thousand tons of non-concentrated nitric acid per year. Non-concentrated nitric acid is used for the production of fertilizers, for the oxidation of metals, organic dyes, in the production of sulfuric acid by the nitrous method, for the manufacture of cellulose varnishes. Nitric acid is an oxidizing agent in many chemical processes.
“The purpose of the modernization is to fulfill the production program for the stable supply of the enterprise with nitric acid. The release of nitric acid affects the release of the main products, namely, mineral fertilizers necessary for agriculture. A number of upgrades will allow our enterprise to continue to operate more stably and reliably. Carrying out planned overhauls is extremely important and necessary. After all, the enterprise works as a single organism - all links are interconnected, ”says Mikhail Zabluda, Chairman of the Board of PJSC“ Pivneazot ”.
In 2020, capital investments in the modernization of the enterprise exceeded UAH 84.6 million. The key project was the replacement of the absorbent in the converted gas purification system of the ammonia shop AM-2, which influenced the final increase in the product.
Recall that according to the results of 2020, Rivneazot PJSC, which is part of the Group DF nitrogen business, produced 1.81 million tons of products. In particular, last year the enterprise produced: 47.165 thousand tons of technical water ammonia, 567.615 thousand tons of ammonium nitrate, 7.418 thousand tons of ammonium nitrate (in the form of water), 214.732 thousand tons of IAS (lime-ammonium nitrate). The enterprise also produced 379.438 thousand tons of technical ammonia, 588.9 thousand tons of non-concentrated nitric acid, 145.2 tons of liquid nitrogen.
