Rinat Akhmetov named 3 steps to overcome the energy crisis in Ukraine

To stabilize the situation on the energy market of Ukraine, it is necessary to take only three steps, namely: to ensure the maximum supply of electricity from nuclear power plants, to increase the reliability of the operation of all thermal generation, by additionally importing 2 million tons of coal and allowing the use of natural gas as a reserve fuel in the amount of 1 , 2-1.5 billion cubic meters, as well as make a decision by the NEURC and the government for financial support of the industry. DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko said this during the press conference "Energy of Ukraine: Current Problems, Global Challenges and Solutions".

The energy sector needs quick and effective solutions, as well as the involvement of all market participants in order to overcome the current crisis and preserve the possibility of integrating the United Energy System of Ukraine into the European energy space, said the top manager of the energy holding.

According to him, market liberalization will allow Ukraine to realize its potential in the development of new energy and become a regional leader in decarbonizing the economy.

“It is important to synchronize the development of the Ukrainian energy sector with the global demand of society, which determines a new energy transition. It is based on the need for clean, efficient, competitive energy. The key to Ukraine's ability to meet this demand is industry reform and integration into the European energy market. All industry participants need to unite their efforts in order to prevent the worst scenarios of the heating season in the short term, and in the long term to work out a strategy for the development of the Ukrainian energy sector, taking into account global climate challenges, ”stressed Maxim Timchenko, CEO of DTEK.
