An ammonia leak occurred at a chemical plant in Sumy

On Monday, March 21, at about 4.30 am Kyiv time, Russian troops fired on Sumykhimprom PJSC, as a result of which one tank with ammonia was damaged. This was reported by the press service of the State Ecological Inspectorate of Ukraine, specifying that the zone of chemical destruction is about 2.5 km.

At the scene of the emergency, the emergency services of the plant and the State Emergency Service carried out work to precipitate an ammonia cloud and apply a bandage to the damaged pipeline. At the moment, the emergency is localized. There is no threat for Sumy and its inhabitants.

The operational headquarters established under the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine has started calculating the losses from environmental crime.
