Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about Ukraine's interest in continuing fruitful cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). As the President of Ukraine said during a working visit to Japan, among the important promising infrastructure projects may be the construction of a bridge over the Southern Bug River in the city of Nikolaev to improve the southern transport corridor.
"Cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency is extremely important for our country, especially in the context of the implementation of large-scale reforms that are taking place now," the president's press service quotes.
The head of state said that among the priorities of the current leadership of Ukraine are the launch of the land market, large-scale privatization, deregulation and simplification of all procedures with the transition to online services, elimination of the shadow economy and corruption schemes, solution of infrastructure problems, optimization of the tax system, fast and comprehensive implementation of European and international standards.
The bridge crossing over the Southern Bug River in the city of Nikolaev will be more than 2 km long. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a feasibility study for the construction of a new bridge crossing on July 11, 2013.
The estimated cost of building a new bridge according to the feasibility study at that time was 3.5 billion hryvnia, or about 450 million US dollars. The project was planned to be implemented through the official development assistance program of the Government of Japan.
