According to the World Steel Association Worldsteel, in January-April 2021, metallurgical enterprises of the countries of the world smelted 488.58 million tons of pig iron, of which 458.15 million tons by the blast furnace method and 30.43 million tons by the direct reduction method. This is 8.6% higher than in January-April 2020.
World steel production in four months of 2021 amounted to 662.78 million tons, which is 13.68% more than in the same period in 2020.
Ukraine, with a result of 7.07 million tons or 109.0% relative to January-April 2020, ranks 10th among 38 countries-producers of pig iron and with a result of 7.14 million tons or 107.2% relative to January-April 2020 ranked 13th among 64 steel-producing countries.
