Acting President of NNEGC Energoatom Petr Kotin and President and CEO of Westinghouse Electric Patrick Fragman signed a memorandum of understanding between the companies. The document provides for the involvement of Westinghouse Electric technology for the construction of a nuclear reactor of project AP1000 with an electrical capacity of about 1.1 GW.
The implementation of the memorandum will open up an opportunity to attract investments for the construction of five blocks worth about $ 25 billion - in addition to accounting for direct investments, while part of production will be localized in Ukraine, and the budget will receive additional tax revenues, the press service of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. who was present at the ceremony of signing the agreement between the companies.
As reported, the construction of power units No. 3 and No. 4 of the Khmelnitsky NPP with a capacity of 1000 MW each was included in the list of priority investment projects for the state for the period up to 2023 approved by the Ukrainian government in November 2020. The completion of the construction of the power units was planned in 2026.
