the Operator of the project "Northern stream – 2" owned by Russian "Gazprom" company Nord Stream 2 AG filed a lawsuit against the European Union, accusing the block in the adoption of the "discriminatory amendments" to the Gas Directive.
In the opinion of the operator, the decision of the EU authorities on the amendments to the Gas Directive "violates the obligation to establish fair and equitable treatment and doing away with discriminatory actions."
According to the company, commencement of arbitral proceedings will not affect the construction of the pipeline "Nord stream-2".
Also reported on the lawsuit in the Court of the European Union on the partial abolition of the amendments due to the short terms for the grant of exceptions under these projects. Of the possibility of such arbitration in Nord Stream 2 said in July.
Gas Directive was adopted by the European Parliament on 4 April. According to her, new and existing offshore gas pipelines from countries outside the EU (including the "Nord stream – 2"), must comply with the rules that now apply to the internal piping.
Amendments to the Gas Directive apply to offshore areas of the gas pipelines in the EU countries from other countries, the effect of the provisions on the division of activities in mining and transportation, installation of competitive tariffs for pumping and allow access to pipelines by third parties.
Nord Stream 2 invested in the project "Northern stream – 2" more than 6 billion euros. The project work involved more than 1,000 companies from 25 countries.
