Romanian and Ukrainian national gas pipeline operators signed an accession agreement to allow the supply of gas from Turkey and southern Europe to Ukraine and Moldova.

LLC "Operator GTS of Ukraine" (OHTS) and the Romanian operator TRANSGAZ signed interconnection agreement (interconnection agreement), which will allow, from 1 January 2020 to establish import gas from Romania, which until the end of 2019 locked the current agreement on the transit of gas from Russia's Gazprom.

"This decision is historic and extremely important because it allows you to create additional route for gas imports to Ukraine in the first place, for gas supply of consumers of Moldova and border consumers of Ukraine in Odessa region. This will allow uninterrupted pass the winter, even if the possible termination of transit of gas from Russia", - said the Director of OHTSU Sergey Makogon, quoted by the press service.

Previously reported that the Romanian operator of the gas transportation system (GTS) "Transgaz" plans to triple the amount of capacity offered for booking for import of gas to Ukraine on January 20, 2020.

Ukraine is in talks with Russian gas producer Gazprom on a new agreement on gas transit. "Naftogaz of Ukraine" said that while no agreements on Russian gas transit through Ukraine after 2019 in negotiations with Gazprom is not achieved.
