Energy agencies of Ukraine and Germany have identified cooperation priorities
UkraineThe State Energy Efficiency Agency of Ukraine will implement the transition to hydrogen technologies together with the German DENA.
And about. Chairman of the State Energy Efficiency Konstantin Gura, together with representatives of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, held negotiations with experts from the German Energy Agency DENA on continuing cooperation and identifying areas of work most relevant for Ukraine and Germany.
In particular, K. Gura noted: “We appreciate the fruitful and effective partnership with one of the leading EU countries - Germany. Taking into account the challenges and global trends of sustainable development, we are interested in continuing relationships, exchange of experience and contribute to practical results in order to resolve pressing issues:
development of Ukraine's potential for the use of hydrogen
introduction of energy storage systems to balance the power system;
implementation of EU directives in the field of energy efficiency;
improving energy efficiency, incl. at universities and others. "
In turn, DENA representatives confirmed the need to strengthen cooperation in these issues and drew attention, in particular, to Germany's plans to use hydrogen. DENA is ready to share its research on this topic.
The experts also stressed that DENA has been selected as one of the partners in the implementation of the future energy partnership between Ukraine and Germany. In June this year, an order of the Government of Ukraine "On the signing of a Joint Declaration of Intent between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany on the start of an energy partnership" was approved.
Cooperation within the framework of the Joint Statement will allow Ukraine to learn from Germany's experience in the successful transformation of the coal industry and, together with international partners, actively work to create a new economy in coal mining regions.
The joint statement will contribute to the implementation of the European Commission's New Green Deal initiative.
Signing of the Joint Statement:
will create a platform for political dialogue and cooperation between Ukraine and Germany in the energy sector with a focus on the development of green energy and energy efficiency technologies;
will allow expanding cooperation with German energy institutions, as well as demonstrate to European partners Ukraine's intentions to develop clean and qualitatively new energy.
