The specialists carried out a complex of works at all key nodes: furnaces, transport lines and roughing crates. The electric motor and gearbox of the fifth and sixth cages were sorted out and restored. The main event was the installation of a new domestic gearbox on the first crate.
Dismantling of the old and installation of the new equipment with its centering took almost four days.
Thanks to the new approaches to the organization of major repairs that we have implemented at the plant, all measures were carried out efficiently and on time, said Kirill Chernov, Managing Director of OEMK. According to him, this was facilitated by clear planning, a detailed analysis of possible risks and round-the-clock monitoring at each stage.
At the site of metal finishing and shipment of finished products, five crane beams and 80 meters of crane track were replaced. An audit and repair of the packaging, strapping and weighing line of rolled products has been carried out. Some of the foundations under the equipment were also replaced to create a foundation for strength for years to come, which is one of the main goals of the overhauls.
As part of the modernization of the site, a sliding trolley was installed to collect metal residues formed during the production and processing of rolled metal under the abrasive stripping mill. Now they are promptly transported by crane to special bunkers, which greatly facilitates the maintenance of the equipment.
More than 200 people were involved in the work each shift: workshop workers, specialists from OEMK repair services and contractors. All work is carried out in accordance with the requirements of occupational safety and industrial safety.
