Along with the modernization of the main equipment and the restoration of the gas cleaning systems to the design parameters, a new slag cut-off system was installed at the converter No. 3 of the Ilyich Mariupol Metallurgical Plant (MMKI). According to the press service of Metinvest, the company's investments in large-scale overhaul amounted to 11 million hryvnia.
During the overhaul of the unit, specialists from Metinvest-Promservice and Zaporozhgneupor performed a complex of dismantling, installation and restoration work. The head-neck of the unit was replaced, the waste heat boiler was repaired in parallel with the replacement of the barrel and metal structures of the circulating cycle trays. Installation of pipe and cable routes and welding work on the outer surface of the converter were completed. The ferroalloy plant and the hopper of the solid slag-forming mixture were repaired. The slag corridor rails have been updated.
Also, the assembly and installation of new equipment was carried out - installation of a slag cut-off system using a manipulator manufactured by MONOCON. Modern technologies make it possible to effectively separate the slag from the metal when tapping from the converter. Together with the start-up of the unit after overhaul, the new items were commissioned.
A complex of environmental protection measures has been implemented, including cleaning the internal surfaces of the dust treatment unit, scrubber, Venturi pipe, bunkers, hydraulic locks, drip pockets, sludge line and sludge duct trays of the unit, as well as revised irrigation system nozzles, bearing assemblies, lubrication system for smoke exhauster No. 3 ... The worn-out segments of the metal structures of the Venturi pipe hopper, slurry line and pressure duct of the aspiration system of converter No. 3 were replaced.
