On October 4, in the Sverdlovsk region in the sports complex of Baltym settlement, the first qualifying round of the All-Russian competition "Step into the Future" - a table tennis tournament among youth sports schools and sections of the cities where UMMC organizations are present - started.
Over 150 children will compete for the title of the strongest in the team and individual events for three days. Tournament participants are boys and girls of two age categories. These are athletes born in 2005. and younger, as well as 2008 year of birth. and younger. All meetings at the tournament are held according to the rules of the FNTR Continental Tournament.
This year, teams from 19 cities take part in the "Step into the Future" competition. Teams from Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Sukhoi Log, Revda, Rezha, Yekaterinburg, Sysertsky GO, Kemerovo (Bachatsky settlement) perform in the Center zone.
“The tournament is interesting because it helps children to open up. It's one thing - you train at home, in your home gym, it's another - when you start comparing your strengths with other athletes. Here it turns out to find our weaknesses and become stronger. Each competition is a strong impulse for sports development, it is important for the skill of young tennis players. We see how the guys are growing, and these are, perhaps, future stars, "said Vera Zakopaylova, Deputy Director for General Issues for Social Projects at UMMC.
The Step into the Future tournament is being held for the fourth time. The project is being implemented within the framework of the Table Tennis Development Program in the cities where UMMC organizations are present. Athletes who successfully compete in these competitions have a chance to enter the School of the Olympic Reserve in Yekaterinburg, as well as get into the KNT UMMC.
According to the results of the championship, the best tennis players will reach the final, which will be held in December in Baltym.
