Uber Technologies, Inc. signed a national agreement to improve its business culture against sexual harassment and sex discrimination, announced on Wednesday, the equal opportunities Commission U.S. employment (EEOC).
"Uber will create a special Fund in the amount of 4.4 million USD for compensation of any employee of the company, which the EEOC will determine how the victim of sexual harassment after January 1, 2014," saying in a press release of the Commission.
in addition, the company agreed to establish a system to identify employees that were the object of more than one complaints of harassment and to identify managers who do not promptly respond to the issue of sexual harassment.
"This resolution demonstrates the benefits of collaboration with the EEOC and served as a model for companies seeking to truly level the playing field, where opportunities are not restricted to gender," said EEOC chair Janet Dillon.
the Commission did not specify what incidents include the settlement, but noted that the investigation into the accusations was initiated "after the publicity in 2017 regarding the treatment of workers from Uber".
In June of 2017, the founder of Uber Travis Kalanick has resigned from the post of Director-General in response to criticism of the internal culture and mindset for career growth at any cost.
