The Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) has created a unified remuneration system that covers more than 50,000 employees at 28 enterprises in 15 regions of Russia. Elena Pozolotina, Deputy Director General for Human Resources Management, at the Forbes conference "The New Reality of Management: a forum of leaders, CEOs and HR directors" noted that this approach was an important step in developing corporate culture and improving staff efficiency.
The system is based on a single tariff schedule that unites all employees — from workers to managers — into 20 groups of positions. The key feature is an objective assessment of positions according to uniform criteria — more than 7 thousand different positions are registered in the system, which are regularly reassessed in accordance with changes in production processes. This allows you to fairly determine the level of remuneration regardless of the region of work or the category of staff.
Over 10 years of operation, the system has proven its effectiveness and has allowed for successful internal staff rotation between regions and enterprises, as well as creating a single transparent field for the development and promotion of employees within the company. In addition, the implementation of the system solved a number of historical problems, leading to income equalization between different categories of personnel with comparable qualifications and responsibilities, and eliminated the gender pay gap.
"TMK's unified remuneration system is not just a financial motivation, but a comprehensive tool for staff development. Thanks to her, the employee clearly understands his current level and what competencies need to be acquired in order to move up the career ladder and increase income. Combined with the assessment capabilities of TMK2U Corporate University, the formation of individual development plans and highly effective training programs, an employee can effectively develop within the company regardless of the starting position and seamlessly transfer to other enterprises in the TMK circuit if necessary or desired. I believe that the task of a leader is to create such transparent mechanisms and tools, and use them to form and retain the most valuable thing for any enterprise — a competent team", - said Elena Pozolotina.
The Forbes conference "The New Reality of Management: a forum of leaders, CEOs and HR directors" brought together top management, entrepreneurs and leading experts in the field of team management. The panelists discussed the current situation on the labor market and the challenges facing employers — competition for valuable personnel and cost optimization, the possibility of effective use of the resource of employees of different generations.
