Harvest CROO robots, nicknamed Harv, competed with employees in the speed and quality of harvesting.
So far, manual assembly is of higher quality, but given the cost of labor and labor shortages, robots are more efficient and more economical.
The software-controlled Harv resembles a truck, with 16 high-strength steel movable arms with cameras and lights located below it.
The robot is capable of replacing 30 people, walking simultaneously along 12 rows of plants, picking 5 berries per second with one mechanical "hand", and cultivating 8 acres of area (1.2 hectares) per day. However, he does not need a weekend.
But Harv still needs to be improved: clear identification of unripe, small and rotten fruits, neat grip without damaging the pulp (perhaps coating the steel with polymers).
