Russia sharply increased stainless steel production

The volume of Russian production of unalloyed steel in ingots or in other primary forms and semi-finished products from it in September decreased by 2% compared to the previous month to 5.1 million tons. Year-on-year growth was recorded at 15.1%. During January-September, the corresponding figures increased by 6.5% to 45.2 million tons.

In September, the smelting of stainless steel in ingots and other primary forms, as well as the production of semi-finished stainless steel products amounted to 32.8 thousand tons - by 35.4% more year-on-year and by 0.8% compared to August. Over 9 months, the increase was 28.4%.

September production of other alloy steel ingots and other billets and semi-finished products amounted to 1.1 million tons. On an annual basis, volumes decreased by 7%, compared to the previous month - by 15.5%. Based on the results of three quarters of 2023, the decrease was 3.4%.

Russian metallurgists produced 5.3 million tons of finished rolled steel in September - an increase of 6.4% year-on-year, but by 4.8% less compared to the previous month. During January-September 2023, production volumes of metal products increased by 3.2% to 48.3 million tons.

Production of steel pipes, hollow profiles and their fittings during January-September 2023 reached 10.1 million tons , which is 3% more year on year. In September, the figures decreased year-on-year by 1.9%, by August - by 5.9%.
